The rights organisation MASUM has asked West Bengal authorities to investigate the detention and alleged removal to Bangladesh of Dablu Saikh and three sons from Murshidabad. Its complaint is dated September 24; the family’s account places the detention in August, with the exact timing uncertain. One son was reportedly 16.
MASUM says Saikh and his son Kayem remained registered voters and voted in 2026. It has requested the nationality-verification records and removal orders. Those documents were not available for independent examination in the material reviewed.
The group’s account of its police meeting records a different position: the Suti station inspector considered Saikh Bangladeshi and said he and two sons were transferred to the Border Security Force under an immigration order. That account mentions three people, while the family reports four detained. Their nationality, the youngest son’s whereabouts and the legality of the removal remain unresolved; no court determination was identified.
