Indian bank unions have deferred the nationwide strike planned for September 28–30 after talks with the Indian Banks’ Association on the evening of September 27. The All India Bank Employees’ Association confirmed the decision. This replaces the earlier strike warning: readers should no longer treat the proposed three-day walkout as an action that has begun.
The United Forum of Bank Unions said the understanding includes a committee of union and banking representatives to examine the demand for additional Saturday holidays. That is a commitment to discussions, not the introduction of a five-day banking week. The two sides also plan further talks on the performance-linked incentive scheme for senior officers and outstanding issues from earlier negotiations.
The decision removes the announced strike as the reason for expecting closures over these three dates, but it does not establish the operating status of every individual branch. Customers with time-sensitive work should check their branch’s opening arrangements. Correction: the earlier headline described the strike call as beginning; this report now reflects its deferral before the scheduled start.
